If you or a loved one are touched by cancer, you want access to the best available treatment methods.
We are dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for those with cancer. Through our focus on providing the highest quality of care, focused on you and your family, we have received national recognition for our programs.
One of 22 cancer programs awarded nationally, and the only one in the area
The Commission on Cancer (CoC), a program of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS), measures and awards cancer programs based on a comprehensive list of 34 standards of care excellence. We are awarded the prestigious Accreditation with Commendation based on a comprehensive evaluation.
CoC accreditation is nationally recognized by organizations, including the National Cancer Institute, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, National Quality Forum, American Cancer Society, and The Joint Commission, as having established data-driven performance measures for the provision of quality cancer care.
"These 22 cancer programs currently represent the highest quality of cancer care. Each of these facilities has committed itself to continuous quality assessment and improvement, and has proved that this approach yields the high-quality cancer care that all of our patients should expect."
Lawrence Shulman, MD, FACP, Chair of the Commission on Cancer
Rigorous accreditation process ensures you have the highest quality of care
To earn CoC accreditation, we were evaluated on 34 cancer program standards categorized within one of four cancer program activity areas: cancer committee leadership, cancer data management, clinical services and quality improvement.
Our program was further evaluated on seven commendation standards. Award recipients must have received commendation ratings in all seven commendation standards, in addition to receiving a compliance rating for each of the 27 remaining cancer program standards.
Our additional accreditations and awards
We participate with national accrediting bodies to continually ensure we have the best methods, best quality and provide you the best outcomes possible. These awards and accreditations reflect the dedication we have to you and your family.
Exceeding national standards in breast cancer care
Breast care treatment at our centers has achieved full accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers(NAPBC). We voluntarily undergo a rigorous evaluation of our care against 27 national standards to be granted this accreditation.
These national standards include breast center leadership, clinical management, research, community outreach, professional education, and quality improvement.

An award-winning team approach to diagnosing and treating lung cancer
Screening for lung cancer at our centers has been recognized by two national organizations: the Lung Cancer Alliance and the American College of Radiology.
The Lung Cancer Alliance has designated Methodist as a Screening Center of Excellence. This voluntary designation recognizes facilities that have committed to practice safe, effective diagnostic care for individuals at the highest risk for lung cancer.
This accreditation recognizes our team approach throughout the testing and treatment of lung cancer. The team includes radiologists, pathologists, pulmonologists, oncologists and nursing teams dedicated to identifying and treating lung cancer.
Methodist has been designated a Lung Cancer Screening Center by the American College of Radiology (ACR) . The ACR Lung Cancer Screening Center designation recognizes facilities that have committed to practice safe, effective diagnostic care for individuals at the highest risk for lung cancer.

A comprehensive commitment to quality and safety
The American College of Radiology (ACR) has awarded the seal of accreditation, representing the highest level of quality and patient safety. This accreditation is only awarded to facilities following a comprehensive on-site evaluation by board-certified radiation oncologists and medical physicists who are experts in the field.
This evaluation covers the personnel, equipment, patient safety policies and quality control/quality assessment, measuring our performance against nationally-recognized standards of care. We have achieved accreditation from the ACR for these additional areas: Lung Cancer Screening, Mammography, Radiation Oncology, Breast Ultrasound and Stereotactic Breast Biopsy.
Recognized for commitment to research
The research relies on complete and accurate data about each tumor to develop the most effective treatments for cancers.
Our efforts to catalog the characteristics of all tumors in Nebraska has earned us the Gold Certification from the North American Association of Centralized Cancer Registries.
Providing excellence in stem cell transplantation
The stem cell transplant program at Methodist is one of only three programs in Nebraska to earn this accreditation. This honor is provided by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), after rigorous peer reviews against the most comprehensive treatment standards.
